Avalanche
Sidewinder brought into the Halo 3 generation. The general layout is said to be the same, but with reduced shortcuts for more focus on Vehicles and Man Cannons to allow Infantry a shorter walk between certain areas. Also the only map known to have the Scorpion and Hornet (Snow) on by default so far. This map features different Vehicle and Weapon configuration between symmetrical and asymmetrical games.
Blackout
Blackout, a direct remake of Lockout from Halo 2. Although none of the geometry has had a drastic change, the aesthetics are different this time around as it's set as a Human weather station in the Arctic. The layout of the weaponry try to stay true to Lockout, with small changes because of the difference between Halo 2 and Halo 3.
Citadel
In the heart of this Forerunner structure, far above the troubled surface of the Ark, another battle rages. 2-6 players
Cold Storage

Most suited for small matches, but can range from anywhere from 4 players upto 8. Cold Storage is unique in the fact it was the first Standalone DLC Maps meaning it was up for download by itself. It went up as free of 7/7/08.

Construct
A Medium sized, multi-floored forerunner structure set on the Ark. Ramps and Grav Lifts allow quick movement from the lower levels to the upper ones. As it's very easy to get to the upper flooe, when up there always make sure you have teammates and be wary of what may come out of the Grav Lift or is around the next corner!
Epitaph
A large cathedral-like Forerunner structure towering high in a open desert. Mainly a bi-level map, the inside is open with some higher walkways. The outside has smaller walkways suspended high above the big drop below. Stay high and make sure not to fall when outside!
Foundry
Foundry is the ultimate Forge map. Players can edit every single object in this voluminous industrial warehouse, placing stairways, walls, bridges, and tunnels to create an entirely new play space and build almost any kind of map imaginable. It's core set-up is a symmetrical, small map, that funnels players to the center for combat and the perimeter for Sniper Rifles.
Ghost Town
Ghost Town is the fragmented ruins of a small 24th century water purification complex. It is described as a map for 4 Vs 4 with focus on infantry combat in the small rooms for close range and long range combat in the open outdoor areas.
Guardian
Halo 2's Lockout with a twist, Guardian is one of the best maps in the game for close quarters combat. This fan favorite is set in a Forerunner facility in the upper branches of tall jungle trees.
Heretic
Because of its speed and luxury the Pious Inquisitor has become an irresistible prize during these dark times. 2-8 players
High Ground
A beach upto a large gate protecting a base. With multiple paths and options to get past the wall. A classic map for one way objective games.
Isolation
A small symmetrical map, themed on a flood containment area. Above is a nice grasssy area with trees, while below the tunnels are filled with flood spores. A good map for team objective games.
Last Resort
Zanzibar of Halo 2, remade and tweaked for Halo 3. The map has been increased in size to almost twice the size. New walkways and tunnels into the base add a host of new ways to attack the base.
Longshore
This map will be set on a large tropical island, with features reminiscent of Relic from Halo 2. This map will be ideal for big team.
Narrows
Two bases built into the walls of a snowy chasm, connected by a multi-layered bridge. Sure to bring memories of Gephyrophobia from Halo CE PC. Multiple levels and walkways ensure fun encounters and battles while still ensuring breaks from the action.
Orbital
With a lot of situational awareness, and a little luck, hopefully the only thing you will lose is your luggage. 4-12 players
Rat's Nest
A large, symmetrical map with vast, labyrinthine passages. Rat's Nest bring something completely new to the multiplayer experience: an indoor vehicle paradise. Strongly influenced by the Campaign mode (Based off of the Crow's Nest Level), this map is ideal for big team battles. There's a whole mess of vehicles at your disposal to drive around the "circuit" -- a roadway loop running around the outside of this battle-damaged human holdout -- and a variety of hallways and walkways for players who prefer their combat tunes in the key of infantry.
Sandbox
Sandbox's setting and architecture are similar to Sandtrap, but its forging capabilities greatly surpass Foundry.
Sandtrap
A very large map with sandy, desertlike terrain, Sandtrap is mainly meant for vehicle combat. Its large numbers of vehicles and anti-vehiclular weapons make it a fun map for large games.
Snowbound
A snow level with large Covenant bases, connected by underground tunnels. The perimeter is guarded by auto-turrets to keep people in.
Standoff
A symmetrical mid-sized map, Standoff takes place in a US missile launch facility in the Rocky Mountains. Filled to the top with Power Weapons and also containing two warthogs and two active camos, games on Standoff tend to get very intense very quickly. Standoff is ideal for 4 vs. 4 and 6 vs. 6 combat, with slayer being its specialty but assault games happening just as frequently.
The Pit
A large hangar has been converted into a battle training arena. With multiple levels and routes this map makes a good choice for a Capture The Flag game.
Valhalla
While sure to evoke fond memories of Blood Gulch and Coagulation from Halo 1 and 2 respectively, this take on the classic "base at either end" map has some striking differences. Multiple modes of transport and a veritable bonanza of weapons and equipment can be found at each base, while the middle of the map provides a lot more cover and options than a superficial glance might suggest. |
